Their birthday presents are wrapped, the decorations are up, and the RSVPs have been counted. All that’s left on your pooch party to-do list is the homemade dog birthday cake. Whether they’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth or their paws are constantly in the dog treats jar, this dog cake recipe is sure to go down a treat with your pooch and their pals.
Coconut, honey & carrot dog cake
To bake this dog friendly cake, you will need:
- 130g coconut flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp refined coconut oil
- 2 tbsp plain, natural, unsweetened yogurt & 1 carrot, shredded
Preheat your oven to 180ºC. Whisk the oil, honey, and eggs together before stirring in the flour. Pour the dog friendly cake batter into a baking tin and pop in the oven for 15–20 mins, until golden. Frost with yogurt and decorate with shredded carrot. Et voila! A dog cake for dogs, ready for the scoffing.

Top tip: When preparing homemade dog treats, be sure to steer clear of avocados, cherries, chocolate, and grapes – i.e. human foods dogs can’t eat – and always avoid sweeteners.
